Two years ago, I wanted to sell my motorcycle since I hadn’t used it in years. However, there was nobody in Germany interested in buying it. I finally put some bags on it and drove to Romania, where I made some friends. We just met two of them in Prague. Another nice guy was really interested in buying my motorbike. It took place. Furthermore, I promised him that I would one day bring him the spare parts I have in my garage. This will happen on our ongoing tour.
The evening before we left on this tour, I grabbed the parts and realized that the exhaust pipe was occupied. By a dormouse. I wasn’t surprised. A few days ago, I saw the signs of such an animal in my garage. And this was not their first visit. That same evening, we drove several kilometers to release it elsewhere. But it wouldn’t leave the exhaust pipe – obviously because it was sleeping. The literal translation of its German name, “Siebenschläfer,” is “seven sleeper.” This originates from seven months when this animal sleeps to survive the cold season. It seems that this exemplar may have misplaced its calendar. It had been sleeping in the garage for several days, and since it was unimpressed by us carrying it around, we decided to take it with us on our tour. This seemed to be the only option that we could start the next day.
After three days of driving over sticks and stones and moving the exhaust pipe outside every night, the dormouse did one thing: nothing. We decided to wake it up since we were in a really good spot. The least unfriendly way seemed to be prickling it with a stick gently. After several minutes of carefully touching it, our sleepy friend finally woke up. We knew it must be awake when it looked at us, and it seemed a little frightened. We took off and left the exhaust pipe outside once more. This time, however, the dormouse would leave. We hope it finds another nice place to live in the wilderness of this forest. Or eventually in the house of the nearby radio tower. Goodbye, cute dormouse! All the best to you!
