Brief excursion

The end of our time traveling together was approaching. Returning to Georgia forced us to change our plans. Since we didn’t make it to Ulaanbaatar as desired, we needed to book a new flight. From now on, I (Felix) will continue this journey largely on my own.

That same day, I headed as fast as possible to Yerevan, Armenia, since I saw an interesting option for applying for a visa. However, the official information seems incomplete. There was no visa I could apply for. Still trapped in a stressful situation, I chose to reduce my stay in Armenia to the absolute minimum. I wanted to see at least a few interesting places, so I started right away. The first was a famous area with huge volcanic outcrops called “Symphony of Stones.”

For another half-day trip, I chose to visit “Angels Canyon,” which features a small natural arch nearby. The area reminded me of Utah’s Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, and the wonderful time I spent there with a Couchsurfer. The only difference is the size. The popular sights in Armenia are just a fraction of those in Utah. Still, they are interesting places!

I spent the nights in Armenia at the best campsite I have seen so far. A couple of Germans from a shared Messenger group brought me there spontaneously. We had an excellent time together and exchanged several experiences. Furthermore, I was able to get guidebooks for countries I still want to visit. On the morning of our last day, I left for my last point of interest in Armenia: a small chapel in a cave on top of an old volcano. After briefly exploring the area, I returned to Georgia.
